B-ham Bowlrider Contest

The Alabama oldschoolers have cooked up a major bowl event for 2007. The new pool & park in Alabaster was featured in Bacon's recent Southern Slaughter video.

SkateAlabama.com insiders say Bacon's Benji Galloway is confirmed for the event, and numerous other pros will attend. Given that it's the weekend following the Florida Pool Party, they are probably correct. This could be a huge event.

Positive info about Nashville's skatepark

Nashville Parks and Rec seems very happy with their free, open access, lighted, all concrete public skatepark.

(Superintendent of Metro Parks and Recreation, John) Holmes said the Skatepark has not been much of a burden on the city since there is so little maintenance and upkeep involved.

"One thing about this group or this culture is they police it themselves," Holmes said. "They take pride in keeping the trash off the actual skate surface. We've left brooms out, and they'll sweep it themselves."

Euros up the ante in this artistic skate epic by Pontus Alv. Gorgeous soundtrack with plenty of 80's alternative classics. Worldwide terrain and styles -- street, tranny, junk, ditches, skateparks, plazas, DIY, allover everything. Good mix of media... film, DV, video, graphics. Savannaside mini docudrama. What else can you say about a skate flic that features Bukowski readings and full male frontal nudity? Not Jackass full male frontal nudity... strangely absurd full male frontal nudity.

Knoxville Skatepark News!

Jay Cabler sez...

Wally Hollyday was in Knoxville the other day to review the site for the upcoming knoxville skatepark. You can see his preliminary plans at http://www.knoxvilleskatepark.com/.

This is just the first plans, and some changes are still in the works. We should be breaking ground around August of this summer.

In addition, the Tony Hawk Foundation also gave the Knoxville skatepark a grant for $25,000. Thanks Tony!!!! With this grant, and a bit more fund raising, and we will be looking at putting in a peanut pool.

We are Stoked!!!!!!!!
